The Hawk is as much a British aviation icon as the Harrier, like the Harrier it has derivatives flying in the US military, unlike the Harrier, the RAF still flies it too! I loved the original colour scheme shown above, but over the years the Hawk has worn probably more colours than any other postwar RAF airframe. From short-lived camouflages, to myriad special display schemes, and of course to the Red Arrows. That’s why the current all-black training scheme is maybe so elegant in contrast.
